Curriculum Statement
Moorlands Primary School is proud to be a learning hub that sits in the heart of the local community.
Our curriculum is designed to ensure all of our pupils are confident and curious learners who are well prepared to participate effectively in our ever changing society.
We want our children to be curious, resilient, independent, lifelong learners who are prepared for life beyond school, so that they are able to compete effectively in our fast moving, ever changing world.
We want our children to be confident and respectful; to question and challenge what they hear and see; to learn from their mistakes and use them as a way of moving forward. We want them to experience what it feels like to achieve academic and social success and to be the best they can!
To do this our curriculum is built on key transferable knowledge and skills we want the children to learn and apply. We aim to stimulate and enthuse the children through immersion and engagement activities such as visits, visitors, key texts and practical experiences. Within these we highlight subject specific vocabulary we wish the children to learn and use, and combine this with Oracy skills, to enable the children to communicate effectively in all areas of the curriculum and life. We live in a culturally rich community and are keen to celebrate this diversity and hence build in regular opportunities for this.
Underpinning all of this is the need for a healthy mind and healthy body and we plan core activities to cater for these.
