Bingo, Banter and Bedtime: first night completed!
Last night the children enjoyed a lively round of bingo, with prizes flying out faster than you could shout “full house!”—including a surprisingly impressive selection of vintage football shirts. Those not gripped by bingo fever happily chilled out playing pool, table-football, or simply catching up with their friends. As a punishment, some were allowed to watch the Man Utd match in the lounge (mercifully, they went to bed at half-time, sparing us from any further cheering or booing.) Apologies for the football-related humour… I couldn’t resist.
Once the excitement wound down, the children settled in for their first night of the residential. Initially, a room inspection took place with very surprising results: the boys scooped a very well-earned 10/10 from Mrs Ferguson and Mrs Hutley for their rooms.
After such a full-on day, they crashed remarkably quickly—setting a new record on “Mr Eynon’s wing” (otherwise known as the boys’ corridor) with nobody coming out of their room by 10.30pm. Some snores were heard coming from rooms even earlier! However, I’m not sure that the same can be said for the girls; there may be a few tired eyes this morning.
Now we’re off for a hearty cooked breakfast to fuel us for a blustery first full day!
