The girls' football team celebrated their first victory of the season in style this week with an impressive 3-0 win over Park Lane, overcoming our federation rivals with a fantastic display of teamwork, determination and skill.

Goals from Lillie-Sue, Maddison and Oluwanifemi secured a well-deserved victory, but this was truly a team performance from start to finish.

At the back, Imogen enjoyed a relatively quiet afternoon in goal but remained focused throughout and was solid whenever called upon. In defence, debutant Isabella was outstanding, showing great confidence and refusing to let the opposition attackers get past her. Alongside her, Poppy was equally solid, helping to keep Park Lane at bay and providing a strong defensive foundation for the team.

In midfield, Mariaah led the side as captain and set an excellent example, passing the ball well from the centre of the pitch and putting in some strong tackles. Carey kept herself busy throughout the game, making important tackles and delivering several dangerous corners into the box. Esmée worked tirelessly from start to finish, covering plenty of ground, getting stuck into challenges and demonstrating the power in her kicking. Minah, playing in her first game for the team, brought plenty of energy and enthusiasm to every moment she was on the pitch.

Further forward, Khloe worked hard to lose defenders and consistently found herself in good positions. Arebella produced several exciting runs with the ball, looking composed in possession and unlucky not to get her name on the scoresheet. Debutant Bonnie made a very encouraging start, showing confidence, some excellent touches and an infectious enthusiasm as she never stopped running.

Our goalscorers all played superbly. Lillie-Sue was creative throughout, producing some dazzling dribbles and mazy runs that caused the opposition numerous problems. Maddison enjoyed a highly accomplished debut performance, looking confident in possession, playing some excellent passes and constantly threatening the Park Lane defence. Her well-taken goal capped off a performance that suggested there may be many more to come. Oluwanifemi was influential all over the pitch, delivering quality from set pieces, producing some good dribbles and passing well before deservedly adding her name to the scoresheet.

Most pleasing of all was the camaraderie and teamwork shown by every player. The girls worked tirelessly for one another and thoroughly deserved their victory.

A huge thank you goes to all the parents who came along to support the team. Special mention must go to Mrs Ferguson and Mrs Brandon, who were once again our talismanic cheerleaders from the sidelines, encouraging the players every step of the way.

Congratulations to all the girls on a fantastic first win of the season. We are already looking forward to the next game! ⚽🏆
