We have comprehensive transition arrangements for starting your child in our reception classes and have the expectation that all families will accept a place for their child starting in the Autumn term.
Following confirmation from Reading Local Authority, we invite all parents to attend a general introduction meeting. Subsequent visits provide more detailed information and allow time for you and your child to become familiar with our Foundation Stage area, staff and other families who will be joining the school.
Visits to your child’s nursery/pre-school and home visits also form part of the process.
We only get one chance at making your child’s experience of starting school a positive one and want to get it right!
As the children joining us have a wide variety of experiences, from full time day care to only a couple of mornings at playgroup, we work hard to ensure the transition period meets all of their needs. Our routine has proven itself successful over a number of years and the Foundation Stage team are experienced at what they do. We do, however, appreciate this can be a difficult time for working parents and we encourage parents to support each other with child care arrangements. Our transition arrangements are reviewed each year, but information on the staggered start for this year can be found at the top left of the window. We only get one chance at making your child’s experience of starting school a positive one and want to get it right!
Please do come and talk to us if you have any worries at all about this transition period.
